With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I’m glad that I got to treat Leo to the Merrick Thanksgiving Day dinner cans. They were paw-licking good! I’ve tried Merrick little plates in many different flavors before and they’ve been great as well. Overall the brand is reputable and dog owners seem to love and trust it – I totally understand why!
The food is grain-free. That’s perfect because I would never feed Leo cheap grains and fillers. The ingredients include healthy proteins and veggies like turkey, chicken, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, peas, apples, blueberries and cranberries. They also have some added essential vitamins and minerals. Phew! That’s a lot and Leo loves all these items. The stew-format made it easier to serve and Leo also loves slurping it off his bowl. That goofball!
I must also add that I’m a vegetarian (as many of you know) and the smell of canned meat sometimes throws me off but this one was different. It actually smelt of delicious Thanksgiving food and not chemical-like or rotten, like many other canned wet food brands. This could be because the recipe is all-natural and does not contain artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. So the vegetarian in me, really thanks you Merrick! 🙂
My only concern was the price. This isn’t specific to Merrick but to all wet food brands. 12 cans of Merrick cost around $35 and is enough to feed Leo for only 2 days since he is a 100lbs dog. Work out the monthly budget for yourselves guys. It’s very high 😐 I guess that’s the price you pay for good food unless you are looking it yourself.
Like I’ve said before, when the food is this expensive, I use it as a meal topper. Leo gets to enjoy a new recipe that’s different from his regular dry food and I’m happy to see him never ever get bored of his food. (This could just be a lab thing too. Shucks! :D)
Anyway.. We finished half the cans already (offcourse) but we are saving the rest for Thanksgiving day. It’ll be something yummy for Leo to look forward to. We think you should grab a pack for your lovely pets too. They’ll be ‘thank’ful for this one 😛
