There are so many different types of feeders and pet bowls available to us today. They come in various cute prints, colors, shapes, sizes and materials as well. I’ve always been tempted to keep buying these beautiful and sometimes quirky bowls. However, watching Leo strain to eat or drink off them was definitely a sore sight.
Leo is a large dog and therefore has to bend his neck all the way down to eat. I often watch him take a break from gobbling down his food to keep his neck straight for a while before returning to his food or water. I knew there had to be a better way and that’s when I came to know about elevated feeders.
The IRIS Airtight Elevated Storage Feeder was one of the highest rated ones online and it solved two of the problems I always had – worrying about neck pain and dry food storage. While Leo’s health was my primary concern, I was also looking at de-cluttering my one bedroom house to make more space for us. The IRIS feeder was definitely an all-in-one solution.
The large feeder comfortably stores more than 40lbs of dog food and the airtight lid with snap-lock latches at the corners keeps the food fresh and free from dust, insects and other pests and pollutants. We had an ant infestation recently and I was surprised at how none of them managed to enter Leo’s food although they were all around the area. This is an airtight container that actually works.
The feeder was more compact and also worked much better than the previous airtight dog food container I bought from a mega store. The container is also BPA-free so there is no adulteration to the food inside. You can be assured that your pet gets fresh and uncontaminated food with every scoop.
On top of the feeder are 2 bowls – one for water and another for food. They are made from high quality stainless steel, making it sturdy and durable. They can even be replaced with bowls of your choice – you just need to find the right fit. The bowls are the perfect size for Leo & I don’t have to watch him bend his head too much. The bowls can also be removed and easily washed in a dish water or by hand. It should also be noted that the bowls are placed on top of the lid in individual slots so messing up the storage bin that it rests on, is not a concern at all.
This product is also available in different colors so you can get one that matches your decor. We got the tan one to go with our patio furniture since we feed Leo outdoors. I would happily put this feeder inside my house too since water spills are almost never bound to happen with this elevated structure. There you go! That’s another plus for the IRIS Feeder.
Elevated feeders are known to prevent muscle stress and improve digestion in dogs. With IRIS, you get the elevation, the storage and the airtight protection. Every customer will be delighted to own one.
The only downside is that you have to lift the bowls along with the upper lid each time you feed your pet. This requires you to end down and lift a structure that is slightly bulky. You might even have to clean under the bowls to remove excess water that might have spilt over. However, since each component is removable, cleaning is a very easy job. If you don’t have an extra 1 minute to do this, a similar feeder might not be right for you.
For me, it’s the perfect match and it is undoubtedly one of the best purchases I’ve made for Leo.
